Jogging for John 5k

This past summer, one of AOII's current sisters lost her father after a courageous fight with lung cancer. He was a vietnam veteran, an active alumni of Sigma Chi's Roanoke College chapter, an educator, role model, father, and friend. On Sunday, December 11th, we teamed up with Sigma Chi and Pi Kappa Alpha to conduct a 5k race in honor of this great man. All proceeds from the event were donated to Children's Health Services at Ocean Medical Center, the hospital where John received care.

The race was a huge success--we were able to raise over $1700 for the charity and had a great turnout from all members of the community! This event holds special importance to AOII and we are so grateful for the support of everyone who donated and participated! Special thanks to ∑X, πKA, and all of our amazing sponsors!

Homecoming!

Ladies of AOII with our newly painted Lilly Pulitzer letters
The women of Alpha Omicron Pi and gentlemen of Kappa Alpha Order had an incredible Homecoming week!
Activities for the week included Olympics on the Row, Athletics, Skit, Parade, Dumpster painting, and many others.  The week ended with the Terps playing Clemson.  Although the Terps didn't beat Clemson and KAOII didn't win homecoming, everyone had an amazing time!  Check back soon to watch KAOII Homecoming Skit!

Patient 9 Crabwalk 5k

Yesterday, the sisters of AOII took part in an incredible philanthropy event called the Patient 9 Crabwalk 5k.  A sister of Alpha Phi started this foundation in memory of her father who fought a battle with skin cancer.  The Winarick family created Patient 9 in 2010 after their father’s battle with melanoma skin cancer inspired him to stand up and fight back.  This foundation is dedicated to raising funding, awareness, and hope for those living with this devastating form of cancer.

We had a great time running this event together to support this great cause.  For more information on how you can help, please visit http://www.patient9.org/.

AOPie in the Face!!!

Pies were flying at our annual philanthropy event AOPie in the Face!  This event has been a favorite of our members and is highly anticipated each Fall.  Between throwing pies at sisters and an amazing bake-sale, AOII raised our chapter raised over $600 in support of Juvenile Arthritis!! Fraternities, sororities, and even the local fire department all came out to support this great cause.  Here are some pictures from this great event:

Founder's Day!!

After being postponed, Founder's Day was rescheduled for today. Founder's Day is an event we hold every year where we celebrate our founders' contributions to Alpha Omicron Pi.  We went to George Mason to celebrate by having lunch with the Towson and George Mason chapters, alumni, and advisors and listening to speakers share their experiences about what Alpha Omicron Pi has meant to them.  In addition, we had the opportunity to learn more about our founders and participate in a candle lighting ceremony.  One alum even announced her engagement, which was a surprise to even her closest friends in attendance.  Overall, it was an exciting day and we look forward to it again next year!
